Manic Melon

As many of you know, I’m training for Ragbrai XXXV, which is an annual bicycle ride across the state of Iowa. This year’s route consists of 490 miles in 7 days, during the week of July 22 - 28.

Ragbrai is probably the largest ride in the Midwest. They have a lottery system that limits the event to 10,000 riders per day. It’s pretty exciting that limiting the rider count to 10k is even a problem!

Lance Armstrong is riding RAGBRAI

In 2006, Lance Armstrong attended Ragbrai. For 2007, Lance is returning and bringing along Team Livestrong. Although there are as many as 10,000 riders attending and I’ll likely never see him, it’s exciting just to be sharing the same event with such an inspirational person.

Training for RAGBRAI

As of May 21st, I’ve ridden about 350 miles this year. This is only the beginning of my traning for Ragbrai. Over the next two months I’ll ride at least 1,000 miles in order to prepare my body for the event.
